Sports Competition
Special Olympics offer competitions at all levels for every athlete. The World Games are flagship events for the Special Olympics Movement. They take place every two years, alternating between Summer and Winter Games, and these can be the world’s largest sporting event of the year. Regional Games and National Games provide more opportunities for athletes to compete while local competitions offer athletes the chance to compete within easy reach and more frequently.
Special Olympics Thailand organizes multi sports competition at the National level where athletes are selected to represent the Program at international competitions such as the World Summer Games and the Asia Pacific Games as well as single sport tournaments at the Southeast Asia and Maekong sub-regional levels.
To ensure that athletes are well prepared for competition and to prevent injury, all Special Olympics athletes must have at least 8 weeks’ training before competition.
