The 2025 Special Olympics Thailand National Games was also the venue for the selection of athletes representing the country at Special Olympics Southeast Asia Football competitions. Eight sports disciplines were offered - Aquatics, Badminton, Basketball, Bocce, Cricket and Football. A total of 869 athletes from 75 schools nationwide took part in these Games, making it the most well attended national games in the history of SO Thailand. Competition

The 13 - member Delegation of the Futuru Lider Ba ASEAN (FLBA) Youth and Sports Team from Timor Leste engaged with Special Olympics Thailand on the 7th July 2025 during their immersion trip to Bangkok to learn about inclusive sport development. The Delegation met Thailand’s Former Prime Minister and Special Olympics Thailand Ambassador, Mr. Abhisit Vejjajiva, and SO Thailand Chairman, Dr. Naris Chaiyasoot, as well as Special Olympics Asia Pacific Director of Organisation Development, Mr. Bradley Few and SO Thailand National Director, Ms. Rachaniwan Bulakul
To promote awareness of abilities and the needs of people with intellectually disabilities, Special Olympics Thailand together with its partners – Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre and Treasury Department – is organizing the 1st Special Olympics Thailand Charity Run 2025 in celebration of the Special Olympics Thailand Day on Sunday 26th January 2025 at Benjakitti park, Bangkok.
Special Olympics Thailand is most honored that Khun Abhisit Vejjajiva has accepted the role of our Celebrity Ambassador.
"As a strong believer in the power of sports to bring people together and create a more inclusive society, I shall do my best to raise awareness of the organization's [Special Olympics Thailand's] important work and to promote acceptance and inclusion for people with intellectual disabilities. I look forward to working with the Special Olympics Thailand team to make a difference in the lives of athletes with intellectual disabilities in Thailand."
Abhisit Vejjajiva was Thailand's 27th Prime Minister between 2008 - 2011. During his premiership, he promoted and supported Special Olympics Thailand's work, recognising our athletes' abilities by presiding over the Opening of SO Thailand's 2010 National Games and inviting the Thailand National Delegation for a grand send-off to the 2011 S.O World Summer Games Athens, in which Thai athletes won 9 Golds, 12 Silvers and 5 bronzes.
Special Olympics Thailand I and the Bureau of Special Education are in official partnership to collaborate and drive 9 Special Olympics projects in the Bureau's member schools nationwide between 2024 - 2028. The MOU was signed on 29 October 2024 at the Central Special Education Center, Bangkok
